Train With My VillageThe Merriment Mile Training Season
The Purpose Station asked one question: what are you running for? This is where that answer becomes a weekly habit, all the way to your next finish line.
A coached training season for parents and professionals ready to build consistency, feel stronger, and work toward a mile they can be proud of — right here in Vacaville.
Your next starting line: The Merriment Mile, December 12.
Train With My VillageThe Invitation
You already make room for the people and responsibilities that matter. This is a place to put your own running goal on the calendar, with a Village ready to help you follow through.
Between now and December 12, you’ll have a plan, real coaching, and familiar faces beside you every week — not a program you follow alone.
The Proof
When I hired my son Justus to coach me, we built a manageable rhythm: three running days each week, bike cross-training, and a clear goal.
Ninety days later, my 5K time went from 24:58 to 21:10.
This season brings that same coaching approach — mindset, training, strength, and recovery — into a group experience built around your mile. We start with your real benchmark and a goal that actually matters to you.
Whether you’re returning to running, building consistency, or chasing a faster mile, there’s something worth working toward here.
It’s kinda like having a training plan built for you — except you’re not the only one running it.
Why the Mile?
I used to think longer was the whole game. More miles, bigger blocks, harder races. I paced a hundred-mile trail run once — missed a course marker, added three unplanned miles to an already impossible day, and my running partner still got swept from the course before the finish. Those long runs gave me hours alone on a trail. If I’m honest, some of them also gave me a place to disappear from everything waiting for me at home.
The Mile is the opposite kind of training. It’s short enough to actually finish, most days, without asking your family for a favor to make room for it. It doesn’t compete with your work or your kid’s Tuesday afternoon practice — it fits inside the life you already have, instead of asking you to carve more room out of it.
When I finally built a plan around shorter, smarter training instead of longer, harder training — three runs a week, real cross-training, a clear benchmark — my 5K time dropped from 24:58 to 21:10 in 90 days. I didn’t get faster by disappearing more. I got faster by showing up consistently, in a rhythm that left room for everything else.
And it turns out shorter miles are more fun, too. You’ve got energy left over to actually enjoy the people running next to you — instead of gutting through the last stretch alone, wondering why you signed up in the first place.
This season isn’t built around your biggest mile. It’s built around your best one — trained for in a way that gives you your life back, instead of asking for more of it.
Run shorter. Live longer. Run happier.
More happy runners. That’s what we’re actually building here.

This season runs October 1 through December 12 — it’s built around one real finish line, not an open-ended enrollment. Joining after the season is underway means joining a training arc already in progress toward a fixed race date, which is why this window matters more than most.
Is This Your Season?
You’re not looking for another fitness program. You already proved something to yourself on race day — you’re looking for a reason to keep proving it, and people who’ll actually notice if you stop.

FAQ
No. This is built around wherever your mile actually is right now — walk it, walk-run it, or chase a faster time.
Yes — this season is built around the in-person Vacaville workouts specifically. If you’re not local, the full Village Mile Lifestyle membership includes a remote-equivalent training path; this training season doesn’t.
Yes, in the ways that train your Mile: the same coach-developed plan from Justus and the team, the same two weekly coached workouts and group long run, and the same benchmark-first approach. What’s different: this season doesn’t include The R.U.N. Map — the tool that maps your Mile alongside a Build and a Relationship goal — the full Private Village Platform’s daily accountability, or the Monday Mastermind, where the full membership’s three pillars are designed to reinforce each other. This season is intentionally just the Mile, on its own.
If you decide to join the full 90-day membership later, the $197 you already paid counts toward it — you’ll only owe the $100 difference, while founding places remain.
Between-workout coaching, the weekly Q&A, and the private community stay open all season — missing one session doesn’t mean losing the thread.
